Whacky Hair Day
Today we were lucky enough to have the Variety Bash Rally cars visit our school. We had a Whacky Hair Day with participants paying a gold coin which went towards the Variety Bash Charity. The Variety Childrens Charity gives grants to children and children based organisations in need. The participants gave the children lots of goodies and we all had a fun time. Thanks again to families of our community who supported this cause.
Book Character Day
BookCharacter Day was held last Friday. The Hononyms Reading Group
from the Learning Centre organised the days events and what a great day we
had. We started off with our Community
Sharing Assembly. Thanks to all those parents and families who came along to
share our learning. After assembly we played outside games in our House Groups.
After play the senior school children from the Learning Centre came and helped
us read our favourite books we had brought along to share. Then we had Kapa
Haka practice and the afternoon was spent watching the Senior childrens plays,
and participating in lots of activities related to books and of course looking
at the books in the book fair. Some
fabulous costumes came to school and lots of excited children. Thanks parents for all your help in making
this a successful and fun day.
Swimming
Swimming Sports was a few weeks
ago now but we are still swimming every day and the children continue to
increase in confidence and in water skills. Having a heated pool to swim is has
been so beneficial – thank you to the PTA for the big role they play in funding
the heating. Have a look at the happy faces in the photos of our school
swimming sports to see what great learning looks like.
